The Hyundai Motor Company, a division of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, is South Korea’s largest and the world’s fifth largest Automaker in terms of units sold per year. Its headquarters are in Seoul, South Korea. In Ulsan, South Korea, Hyundai operates the world’s largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility, which is capable of producing 1.6 million units annually. The Hyundai logo, a slanted, stylized 'H,' is said to be symbolic of two people (the company and customer) shaking hands. Hyundai means "modernity" in Korean.
Chung Ju-Yung founded the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company in 1947. Hyundai Motor Company was later established in 1967. The company’s first model, the Cortina, was released in cooperation with Ford Motor Company in 1968. In 1975, the Pony, the first Korean car, was released, with styling by Giorgio Giugiaro of ItalDesign and powertrain technology provided by Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors. Exports began in the following year to Ecuador and soon thereafter to the Benelux countries. In 1991, the company succeeded in developing its first proprietary gasoline engine, the four-cylinder Alpha, and transmission, thus paving the way for technological independence.
In 1986, Hyundai began to sell cars in the United States, and the Excel was nominated "Best Product #10" by Fortune magazine, largely because of its affordability. The company began to produce models with its own technology in 1988, beginning with the midsize Sonata.
In 1998, Hyundai began to overhaul its image in an attempt to establish itself as a world-class brand. Chung Ju Yung transferred leadership of Hyundai Motor to his son, Chung Mong Koo, in 1999. Hyundai’s parent company, Hyundai Motor Group, invested heavily in the quality, design, manufacturing, and long-term research of its vehicles. It added a 10-year or 100,000-mile (160,000 km) warranty to cars sold in the United States and launched an aggressive marketing campaign.
In 2004, Hyundai was ranked second in "initial quality" in a survey/study by J.D. Power and Associates. Hyundai is now one of the top 100 most valuable brands worldwide. Since 2002, Hyundai has also been one of the worldwide official sponsors of the FIFA World Cup.
In 2006, the South Korean government initiated an investigation of Chung Mong Koo’s practices as head of Hyundai, suspecting him of corruption. On April 28, 2006, Chung was arrested, and charged for embezzlement of 100 billion won (US$106 million), with Hyundai Vice Chairman and CEO, Kim Dong-jin taking over as head of the company.
In 1998, after a shake-up in the Korean auto industry caused by overambitious expansion and the Asian financial crisis, Hyundai acquired rival Kia Motors. In 2000, the company established a strategic alliance with DaimlerChrysler and severed its partnership with the Hyundai Group. In 2001, the Daimler-Hyundai Truck Corporation was formed. In 2004, however, DaimlerChrysler divested its interest in the company by selling its 10.5 percent stake for $900 million.
Hyundai has invested in manufacturing plants in the North America, China, India, and Turkey as well as research and development centers in Europe, North America, and Japan.
In 2004, Hyundai Motor Company had $57.2 billion in sales in South Korea making it the country’s second largest corporation, or chaebol. Worldwide sales in 2005 reached 2,533,695 units, an 11 percent increase over the previous year. Hyundai has set as its 2006 target worldwide sales of 2.7 million units (excluding exports of CKD kits).
Hyundai motor vehicles are sold in 193 countries through some 5,000 dealerships and showrooms. After a recent survey of global automotive sales by Automotive News, Hyundai is now the sixth largest automaker in the world, surpassing Nissan, Honda, and many other major brands, selling 3,715,096 units in 2005.
Hyundai Motor Company’s brand power continues to rise as it was ranked 72nd in the 2007 Best Global Brands by Interbrand and BusinessWeek survey. brand value estimated at $4.5 billion. Public perception of the Hyundai brand has been transformed as a result of dramatic improvements in the quality of Hyundai vehicles.

Santro
The Hyundai Santro is a rebadged version of the city car Hyundai Atos sold in some Asian markets.
Hyundai entered the Indian market through the Santro whose main rival at that time was the popular Maruti Suzuki Zen. The company got actor Shah Rukh Khan to endorse the Santro and although the radical styling was not accepted by everyone, the car was an instant hit. It is still undergoing number of improvements and face lifts to suit the indian customers. The main rival of santro in the current market is Suzuki Wagon R and Maruti Zen Estilo.
In 2003, older models were replaced by the second generation Atos Prime as Santro Xing.
The Santro was launched in Pakistan in 2000. Having struggled a tough stance and low customer interest initially, the new Santro Club and Santro Exec created an impact in the market, which exists to date.
Getz/Click/TB
The Hyundai Getz (also sold as the Hyundai Click or Hyundai TB) is a supermini car produced by the Hyundai Motor Company. It is available in three and five door hatchback body styles, and with a 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission. Accent/Verna/Brio
The Hyundai Accent (sold in some regions as the Verna and until 2000 in Australia as the Excel) is a subcompact car produced by Hyundai in South Korea, India, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran.
The Accent is produced for the Chinese market by Beijing Hyundai Co., a joint venture with Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. For Russian market it is assembled by TagAZ plant in Taganrog. In Mexico, the Accent is marketed by Chrysler as the Dodge Attitude, previously Verna by Dodge. In Venezuela, Chrysler marketed the Brisa de Dodge until 2006. The Brisa is assembled by Mitsubishi Motors at its plant in Barcelona, Venezuela. Since 2002, the Accent had been the longest-running subcompact sold in North America. In Puerto Rico, it has been sold as the Hyundai Brio.
Hyundai introduced a new-generation Accent (MC) at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. A new exterior, larger interior, and CVVT engine are the notable features.
A single trim level, GLS, is available in the United States for the sedan. This sedan includes 6 airbags, air conditioning, power steering with tilt, four-wheel disc antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, and a 6-speaker CD stereo. Pricing starts at US$12,665, nearly $2,000 more expensive than a base 2005 model. A premium sport package, priced at $1,350, includes air conditioning, 15 in. alloy wheels, power windows and heated mirrors, and remote power door locks. An automatic transmission retails for $1000, bringing the price of a loaded Accent to $15,015.
Hyundai began selling the 3-door hatchback in the United States during the spring 2006 as a 2007 model year vehicle. The 3-door is available in two trims - GS and SE. The GS is equipped much like the GLS sedan, with some equipment deleted for a base price of US$10,415. The SE replaces the former Accent GT, offering a sport-tuned suspension, 16 in. alloy wheels, and other sporting features, along with available dealer-installed performance parts such as a cold-air intake and suspension stress bar. The SE is sold as the Verna Sport in Korea. The Hyundai Accent SR is exclusive to Canada and only 500 have been made, this version is like the Accent SE, but in addition has the fender flares, front lip, rear lip, and exhaust tip. Also included with the SR version is the Clarion sound system with , 4channel Amplifier with 400 Watts, 7 speaker Audio System, with 10-inch Subwoofer in a custom made box. Dash also has a Carbon Fiber Trim Kit added to it.
The Accent is presently the third-bestselling subcompact in the United States, trailing after its rivals the Chevrolet Aveo and Toyota Yaris.
In Europe, this model was heavily promoted by the motoring press, and even Hyundai themselves, as a "stopgap" model - that it was intended merely to plug the gap in Hyundai's range until a brand new small family car was launched in 2007. This new car, the Hyundai i30 fills the void left by the Accent and the larger Hyundai Elantra. The name change came about so as to help distance the i30 from the budget reputation of the Accent, and also to highlight that the new car can truly compete in the small family hatchback sector - something the Accent was slightly too small to do, and the Elantra too large. The Accent will continue to be sold in the U.S. in 2008 with an instrument panel overhaul and standard rear cupholders in the SE model.
i30
The Hyundai i30 is a small family car by Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Company. It shares mechanical components with the Kia cee'd although there are enough bodywork modifications to make both cars appear individual. It is available as a five-door hatchback or estate, with a choice of three petrol and two diesel engines, either with manual or automatic transmissions. The i30 is sold in the United Kingdom as a replacement for the budget Hyundai Accent and the elderly Hyundai Elantra and sits below Hyundai Sonata in the firm's range.
Elantra/Avante
The Hyundai Elantra (sold in South Korea as the Avante) is a compact car from Hyundai of South Korea launched in 1991.
The Elantra was formerly sold as the Lantra and the Avante in some Australian and European markets.
This gave rise to disagreement from other motor manufacturers, and the name was standardized as "Elantra" worldwide in 2001.
Between 1996 and 1998, the Elantra was marketed as the Bimantara Cakra (1.5 litre petrol) and the Bimantara Nenggala (1.8 litre petrol) in Indonesia.
The Hyundai Elantra is listed as EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) Picks Ten Most Fuel Efficient Vehicles. The Elantra ranked #2 in 2006 and 2007 in the category of most fuel efficient sedans, and also was ranked as the most efficient non-hybrid mid-sized sedan.
Matrix/Lavita/Elantra Lavita
The Hyundai Matrix (sold in South Korea as the Lavita and in Australia as the Elantra Lavita) is a MPV sold by the Hyundai Motor Company. The vehicle was designed by the Italian car designer company Pininfarina. Even though the car is likely to be used as a leisure activity vehicle rather than an MPV, Hyundai state it is a MPV based on the tall roofline.
The Matrix is a five-seater hatchback and is available in 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8-litre petrol engines. The 1.8 has a top speed of 114 mph (183 km/h) and a 0-60 mph time of 11.3 seconds. In Europe there are versions also available with turbo diesel engines.
In Malaysia, the Matrix is locally assembled as the Inokom Matrix. The Inokom Matrix is available in both 1.6L & 1.8L petrol engine options.
Tiburon/Coupe/Tuscani
The Hyundai Tiburon (a.k.a. Hyundai Coupé) is a compact coupe produced by Hyundai since 1996. The name itself means shark in Spanish. Tiburon is the name given to the current North American, Australian, New Zealand, South African, and Austrian production of the vehicle, though it is called the Hyundai Coupe in world markets. It has also been known by the moniker Turbulence and Tuscani in the South Korean market.
The model has been released in two generations (RD and GK) over its lifespan and in that time these generations have been subject to periodic facelifts. Theses facelifts have attempted to keep the car up to date with various safety improvements and a mixture of changes to exterior and interior styling. The RD Tiburon was in production for 5 years from 1996 to 2001. The GK Tiburon has been produced since 2002 and is still in production in its latest guise.
Enthusiasts sometimes refer to it using the nickname 'Tib' or 'Tibby' in the markets in which it is called the Tiburon.
A more comprehensive facelift was launched in 2007, named the Coupe SIII in markets such as the UK, this time altering the appearance of the car enough to designate it the fourth generation or GK2 reminiscent of the RD1 and RD2 denotations.
The headlights are thinner and angled more aggressively; somewhat similar to the original Tiburon headlights with more straight/sharp lines. The tail lights are similar to the RD2 and GK1 but are somewhat smaller and reflect an aftermarket styling. The fenders lose the "gill fins" and other small changes are seen.
The interior is updated with brushed aluminum accents, new blue backlight scheme for gauges and instrumentation and new seats.
Sonata/Sonata Transform
The Hyundai Sonata is a mid-size sedan built by the Hyundai Motor Company. Production started with the model of 1988, with redesigns in 1992, 1995, 1998, 2002, and 2006. The Sonata was facelifted for the 2008 model year as the Hyundai Sonata Transform in Korea. The facelifted Sonata debuts elsewhere as a 2009 model. There are modest changes in exterior(mostly in Front) and interior(mostly in Center Fascia) as well as powertrain. It equips 2.0L Theta II engine with 163ps@6,200/20.1kg.m@4,600 or 2.4 Theta II with 180ps@6,000/23.5kg.m@4,000.
Grandeur TG/Azera
The Grandeur TG is a full-size sedan introduced for the 2006 model year. A redesigned XG350, it shares a platform with the Sonata. It is sold as the Hyundai Azera in North America, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Peru and Chile.
Being a step up from the Sonata, the Azera is priced at US$24,995 for a base model, US$27,495 for the Limited version, and $29,995 for the Ultimate Package. The flagship Azera will be the most luxurious sedan Hyundai is selling outside of Korea, China, and the Middle East, until 2008, when an all-new rear-wheel drive luxury sedan called the Genesis is released under the Hyundai name in North America to test the waters for a future luxury brand.
The Azera has a four-wheel independent suspension (multi-link in the rear) and uses the company's new 3.8 L Lambda V6, which produces 265 hp (196 kW). The power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed automatic transmission with "Shiftronic" manual gear selection. Hyundai claims 6.0 s to accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Fuel economy of 19 mpg (12.4 L/100 km) in the city and 28 mpg (8.4 L/100 km) on the highway is expected.
The 2.2 VGT CRDI diesel engine from the Santa Fe is also available in Europe.
The Limited trim level adds 17 in alloy wheels, heated front seats, leather seat-upholstery, and a power sun shade in the rear window. The Ultimate Package includes an enhanced audio system with 10 speakers and a 6 CD changer, a power sunroof, telescopic steering wheel, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Azera was named "Best New Family Car (over CAN$35,000)" in the 2006 Canadian Car of the Year awards. Car and Driver notes that the Azera has slightly more rear legroom than a BMW 7 Series. The Azera also received numerous awards which include: Strategic Vision - 2007 Azera: The Azera was named the "Winner Strategic Vision’s 2007 Total Quality Index™ (TQI) for the large car segment".
Genesis/Rohens
The Hyundai Genesis (Korean: 현대 제네시스) is a new rear-wheel drive full-size luxury car that debuted as a concept car for the 2007 New York International Auto Show. It will slot above the Azera in the lineup. The Tau V8 will be Hyundai's first complete in-house 8 cylinder engine, and will be Hyundai's first V8 equipped vehicle to hit dealers in North America. The Genesis will be Hyundai's latest attempt to enter the very competitive luxury segment where they will compete against models from Lexus, Volvo, Cadillac, Acura, Infiniti, BMW and Mercedes-Benz with equivalent luxury and features but at a discounted price.
Hyundai has reported they benchmarked the BMW 5-Series sedan over its 5-year development period. Technical reports from Hyundai indicate they have exceeded BMW's 5-series in torsional rigidity by 14%. Hyundai will use an advanced 5-link rear suspension for enhanced ride and handling characteristics. The Genesis sedan will offer technologies and conveniences not seen on previous Hyundai models including: adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlamps, Bluetooth technology, navigation, and a system equivalent to BMW's 'iDrive'. Hyundai has reported the V8 will allow the Genesis sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds.
The production version went on sale on January 8, 2008 in Hyundai's home market of South Korea and then released for the Chinese market three weeks later. The Genesis is expected to be released in North America and the Middle East in the summer of 2008. There are not concrete plans as of yet for an European release due to market conditions and particularly the perceptions regarding the Hyundai brand. The price of 3.8 liter V6 Genesis will start from slightly lower than US$30,000 in the U.S. The 3.8 liter V6 model will produce up to 306hp. The 4.6 liter V8 model, whose price will start from US$35,000, will produce an estimated 375hp on regular fuel with 87 octane rating.
The Genesis is packed with premium features including a standard 6-speed AT from ZF Friedrichshafen, unlike the Aisin transmission found in the Veracruz. The Korean model is available with a 3.3L V6 producing 266 horsepower (198 kW), and a 3.8L V6 producing 306 horsepower (228 kW). The North American models will receive the 3.8L and a 4.6L Tau V8 that produces an estimated 375 horsepower (280 kW). The Tau V8 engine produces more power and torque than the engines found in Lexus GS450, BMW 750i, Audi A8 and Infiniti M45. Features include Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Adaptive Headlamps, Driver Information System, and a Harman/Becker Lexicon Audio System. Other features include push-button start and electronic stability control.
As the nomenclature describes, the Genesis is only the brand's beginning of a fresh start and the perception-changer for consumers throughout the world. The Korean Genesis will be Hyundai badge-free, with only emblems touting 'Genesis' scattered throughout the exterior and interior of the vehicle. The North American models will still receive the Hyundai badges."
It is also sold as Hyundai Rohens in China, with the production version to be unveiled in Auto Beijing 2008 in April.
Equus/Centennial
The Hyundai Equus, known as the Hyundai Centennial in the Middle East, is a large luxury car produced in South Korea by the Hyundai Motor Company. The car is a joint project with Mitsubishi Motors who had their own version called the Proudia. It was introduced in 1999 as a front wheel drive car that measures 5.1 metres (200.8 in) long and 1.9 metres (74.8 in) wide. A long-wheelbase limousine model is available exclusively for the Korean domestic market and is currently the most expensive model in the company's lineup. The Equus was also mechanically related to the Mitsubishi Dignity for the Japanese market. The Equus is sold in South Korea, China, and the Middle East.
For the 2008 model year, the Equus is replaced by the rear-wheel drive Hyundai Genesis.
Entourage
The Hyundai Entourage is a minivan sold by Hyundai Motor Company in the North American market beginning with the 2007 model year. It is based on the Kia Sedona, now in its second generation. The Entourage was canceled in August 2005, but resurrected in October without affecting its introduction date. The production Entourage was shown at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2006. The Entourage went on sale in April 2006. Sales of the Entourage have been slow, selling about 2,000 units in its first year, and the Entourge outsold the Sedona in its first model year.
The Entourage is powered by the same 3.8 L Lambda V6 that powers the Azera luxury sedan but with output reduced from 265 hp (198 kW) to 252 hp (188 kW). It seats seven people with optional equipment ranging from automatic climate control, leather seating, power sliding doors and tailgate, reverse sensors, and a six-disc in-dash CD changer. Unlike the Sedona, which will add a short-wheelbase version for 2007, the Entourage will be available in extended-length only. However, Hyundai will not add a short-wheelbase Entourage because of the mid-size Hyundai Veracruz crossover SUV, which measures about the same length as the short-wheelbase Sedona.
The American configuration of the Hyundai Entourage earned a five-star safety rating — the highest honor the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bestows — for all seating positions in frontal and side-impact crashes. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety rates the Entourage “Good” — its highest rating — in front, side and rear impacts. The IIHS, in fact, has christened the 2007 Entourage a “Gold Top Safety Pick,” making the Entourage (and the similar Kia Sedona) the safest minivan ever tested.
Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover SUV launched in 2005 by the Korean automaker Hyundai. It shares its Elantra-based platform with the redesigned 2005 Kia Sportage. The Tucson is slotted below the Santa Fe in the lineup. Tucson is known as a worldwide success in most countries because of its balance between comfort, space, and price.
Powertrains are a 2.0 L I4 with a five-speed, front-wheel drive manual transmissio or optional four-speed automatic transmission with "sport shift" manual shifting capability or a 2.7 L V6 available with the automatic only. Four wheel drive is optional with a Borg-Warner torque controller system. In some markets, the Tucson is also available with a 2.0 L diesel engine equipped with common rail technology. The earlier diesels had 113 bhp, and the later ones 140 bhp and a 6 speed manual gearbox. These later models are capable of returning over 45 mpg with almost the same performance as the 2.7L petrol engined models.
In the United States, the Tucson is offered in base GLS, mid-line SE, and top-tier Limited (formerly LX) trim levels for 2007 models. Earlier 2005 and 2006 models were offered as GL/GLS/Limited. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, six airbags, electronic stability control, a CD player, alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, and premium cloth seats. The SE adds to the roster with contrasting gray body cladding, a different alloy design, an AM/FM/Cassette/CD as well as fog lights and a front windshield wiper de-icing grid. The Limited adds leather seating surfaces, a 6-disc in dash CD changer, body-colored cladding, automatic climate control, and heated seats. The SE and Limited are only available with the 2.7-liter V6. The GLS comes only with the 2.0-liter four cylinder.
The Tucson offers modest cargo space but its easy-to-fold seats can expand this volume. Even the front passenger seat folds flat for extra-long cargo. All Tucsons come with this feature.
One major selling point of the Tucson is its safety feature content. There are dual-stage frontal impact airbags, torso side-impact airbags built into the front seats, and curtain airbags for side-impact protection for front and rear passengers. The front passenger airbag has a deactivation feature where if the seat is unoccupied, the airbag will not deploy in the event of a frontal collision, saving on repair costs.
The Tucson received accolades from Canadian Car of the Year Best New Crossover award for 2005.
Changes for 2006 were minimal. The LX became the Limited and got color-coded cladding, automatic climate control, and a high-performance sound system . The GLS retained the gray cladding but 'HYUNDAI' is no longer branded into the cladding on the front doors. The GLS also got improved cloth seats with the option of a heating element. Both GLS and Limited got redesigned alloy wheels. The base GL remains unchanged.
Changes for 2007 were also minimal. The GL and GLS trims were renamed to GLS and SE, respectively, to match the standard for all new Hyundai vehicles.
Santa Fe
The Hyundai Santa Fe is a compact/mid-size crossover SUV based on the Hyundai Sonata platform. It was introduced for the 2001 model year as Hyundai's first SUV, released at the same time as the Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute and Pontiac Aztek. The car was a milestone in the company's restructuring program of the late 1990s because, despite receiving criticism from journalists for its obscure looks, the car was a hit with the American buyers. The car was so popular that at times, Hyundai had trouble supplying the demand. The Santa Fe quickly became Hyundai's best seller and contributed to Hyundai's success in the United States. As of 2007, the Santa Fe falls between the Tucson and the related Veracruz (which was preceded by the Terracan). For 2008, only minor changes have been applied to the Santa Fe. A navigation system made by LG is now available and the power glass sunroof has been made standard on Limited models. The non-metallic white paint trim has been dropped, leaving only the pearl style as the only white color available on the Santa Fe.
Veracruz
The Hyundai Veracruz is a new mid-size crossover SUV sold by Hyundai in the countries of United States, Canada, South Korea, Chinese, and the Middle East. The official date of unveiling in South Korea is October 12, 2006. It is available now in the United States as a 2007 model. Hyundai has settled on its segment name as Luxury Utility Vehicle (LUV). It is a new, larger-than-Santa Fe crossover. The Veracruz went on sale in March 2007 and is Hyundai's largest crossover SUV until the large Portico launches in 2009. The Veracruz is a replacement for the truck-based Terracan, which was sold worldwide except for North America. The Veracruz is be built on the stretched Santa Fe platform.
The Veracruz gets its name from a state in Mexico, continuing the Western theme from the small Tucson SUV and mid-size Santa Fe SUV. According to Autoweek, the Veracruz is larger than the Honda Pilot, and has more cargo volume than the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class; power comes from a 3.8L, 263 horsepower V6, with Aisin sourced 6-speed automatic transmission.
Many have suggested that the Santa Fe and the Veracruz, as well as the Azera and the Genesis are testing the waters for a new luxury brand by Hyundai, to compete with the likes of Lexus, Cadillac, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Acura.
Porter
The Hyundai Porter (Hangul:현대 포터), also known as the Hyundai H-100 is a pickup truck produced and built by Hyundai Motor Company.
The first Porter appeared in January 1977. In November 1986 Hyundai introduced the second generation Porter, which was a licensed Mitsubishi Delica/L300. The third generation of the Porter came in March 1993, and that version is still in production.
It is built in Pakistan as the Hyundai Shehzore. In Mexico, it is sold as the H-100 by Dodge.
In Malaysia, it is locally assembled as the Inokom Lorimas AU26.

Škoda Auto is a Czech automobile manufacturer. In 1991, it became a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group (VAG).
The origins of Škoda go back to the early 1890s where, like many long-established car manufacturers, the company started out with the manufacture of bicycles. It was 1894, and 26-year old Václav Klement, who was a bookseller by trade in Mladá Boleslav, in today's Czech Republic (which was then part of Austria-Hungary) was unable to obtain the right spare parts to repair his German bicycle. Klement returned his bicycle to the manufacturers, Seidel and Naumann, with a letter, in Czech, asking for them to carry out repairs, only to receive a reply, in German, stating: "If you would like an answer to your inquiry, you should try writing in a language we can understand." A disgusted Klement, despite not having any previous technical experience, then decided to start his own bicycle repair shop, which he and Václav Laurin opened in 1895 in Mladá Boleslav. Before going into business partnership with Klement, Laurin was an already established bicycle manufacturer from the nearby town of Turnov. In 1898, after moving to their newly-built factory, the pair bought a Werner "motorcyclette", which was produced by French manufacturer Werner Brothers. Laurin & Klement's first motorcyclette (which was powered by an engine mounted on the handlebars driving the front wheels) proved dangerous and unreliable - an early incident on it cost Laurin a front tooth. To design a safer machine with its structure around the engine, the pair wrote to German ignition specialist Robert Bosch for advice on a different electromagnetic system. The pair's new Slavia motorcycle made its debut in 1899. In 1900, when the company had a workforce of 32, Slavia exports began, with 150 machines shipped to London for the Hewtson firm. Shortly afterwards, the press credited them as makers of the first motorcycle.
The first model, Voiturette A, was a success and the company was established both within Austria-Hungary and internationally. By 1905 cars were being produced by the firm. During the First World War Škoda was engaged in war production.
After WWI it began producing trucks, but in 1924, after running into problems and being hit by a fire, the company sought a partner. As a result it merged with Škoda Works, the biggest industrial enterprise in Czechoslovakia. Most later production was under the Škoda name. After a decline during the economic depression, Škoda was again successful with models such as the Popular in the late 1930s.
During the World War II Occupation of Czechoslovakia, the Škoda works was turned into part of Hermann Göring Werke serving the German World War II effort.
Fabia
The Škoda Fabia is a supermini produced by Czech manufacturer Škoda Auto since 1999. It is the first model to use the Volkswagen Group's A04 platform, which it shares with the Volkswagen Polo Mk IV and SEAT Ibiza. It was the successor to the Škoda Felicia, which was discontinued in 2001. The Fabia is available in hatchback, estate (named Fabia Combi) and saloon (named Fabia Sedan) body styles while from 2007 merging in the second generation - starting with hatchback and awaiting the new estate version. The saloon variant is not planned for the second generation.
The second generation Fabia was officially presented at the Geneva Auto Show in March 2007 and is being sold from April 2007. It is slightly larger than its predecessor and takes styling cues from the new Roomster leisure activity vehicle.
Škoda UK has created a television advertisement featuring the making of a Škoda Fabia car out of cake while swapped rivets for raisins, metl for marzipan and spark plugs for sugar.
The estate variant was officially announced in August 2007 and was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. Compared with the first generation the new Combi is 7 mm longer, 46 mm higher higher and the boot has grown by 54 litres (to 480 litres total). The engine portfolio is the same as the hatchback version, without the 1.2 44 kW one.
Octavia
The Škoda Octavia is a small family car produced by Czech automaker Škoda Auto since 1996, its name revived from a model originally produced between 1959 and 1971. The current Octavia is available in five-door liftback and estate body styles. A common misconception is that the Octavia is a saloon due to its long boot.
The second generation was introduced in 2004 based on the A platform also used by other Volkswagen Group cars, including the Audi A3 II, VW Golf V, SEAT León II, SEAT Altea, VW Golf Plus and VW Touran. Along with a new engine range, also shared with other models of the Volkswagen Group, body changes included more legroom for rear seat passengers (a weak point in the original model) and increased ground clearance at front and rear to reduce the risk of grounding on steep ramps or facing kerbs.
In India, the second-generation Octavia is marketed as the Laura to distinguish it from the first generation.
An off-road version of the Octavia was announced in the third quarter of 2006 under the name Octavia Scout. Only available with the estate body style, the Octavia Scout features a Haldex four-wheel drive, which is based on a computer-controlled clutch-based center-differential. The Octavia 4x4 offers 24 mm higher ground clearance than standard versions. The Scout model offers an additional 16 mm for a total 40 mm higher ground clearance than the standard versions.
Superb
The Škoda Superb is an executive car built by the Czech car manufacturer Škoda Auto. It is based on the platform of the Volkswagen Passat (but was elongated by 10 centimetres (3.9 in)) and shares its mechanicals with that model. It is currently the largest and most luxurious model in Škoda's lineup. The Superb name is a resurrection, originally used by Skoda for a similarly large 1936 model.
Roomster
The Škoda Roomster is a leisure activity vehicle produced by the Czech automaker Škoda Auto. It was a revealed as a production model in March 2006 at the Geneva Auto Show, with sales starting in June. It is built at the Škoda factory in Kvasiny. A panel van version is sold as the Praktik.
The Roomster is Škoda's first car since the Volkswagen Group's take over of the brand that is not based on an existing Volkswagen platform. Instead, it shares components with the previous Škoda Octavia and the current Škoda Fabia. The name is reportedly a concious combination of the words 'Room' and 'Roadster', and the split personality theme is played out in the design with a carefully honed 'driving room' ahead of the b-pillars and a generous 'living room' the the rear. The Roomster therefore competes both in the mini MPV and leisure activity vehicle markets, which it will be sharing with the Fiat Idea, Nissan Note, Opel Meriva and Renault Modus.
The Roomster is based on the concept car of the same name originally revealed in September 2003 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. The concept was slightly shorter (4055 mm against 4205 mm) than the production model but has a longer wheelbase (2710 mm against 2617 mm), and featured a single rear sliding door on the passenger side, which was replaced by two swinging rear doors.
The Škoda Roomster takes its engines from its Volkswagen Group sisters. Petrol engines include the multivalve three cylinder 1.2 L, with power now at 51 kW (69 PS), followed by the 1.4 L and 1.6 L four cylinder EA111 engines, with power of 63 kW (86 PS) and 77 kW (105 PS) respectively. The 1.6 L is also available with a Tiptronic automatic transmission, and is available on the most luxurious models.
Diesel powers comes from the three cylinder 1.4 TDI, with two power levels, base at 51 kW (69 PS) and "sport" at 59 kW (80 PS). The most luxurious models get a four-cylinder 1.9 TDI, with 77 kW (105 PS).

The Acura MDX (Honda MDX in Japan and Australia) is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by the Japanese automaker Acura since the 2001 model year. The MDX is the first crossover SUV to have third-row seating. It is built by Honda of Canada Manufacturing Ltd. in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. It was introduced in late 2000 as a 2001 model, replacing the slow-selling US-only SLX, based on the Isuzu Trooper. In Japan, it filled a gap when the Honda Horizon (also based on the Trooper) was discontinued in 1999. In 2003, the MDX went on sale in Japan. The 2008 Acura MDX has some improvements over the 2007 model, the 2008 MDX now has an enhanced AcuraLink coverage that now covers 76 markets (up from 38 in 2007), a navigation system that can now work in Hawaii, an enhanced automatic day/night mirror, a new interior colour, Taupe, and one new colour.
RDX
The Acura RDX is Acura's first compact luxury crossover SUV. Originally previewed as the Acura RD-X concept car, the production RDX had its debut at the 2006 New York Auto Show and went on sale on August 11, 2006.
The RDX takes over from the MDX as Acura's entry-level crossover SUV, as the MDX continues to grow in size and price. Although the dimensions of the vehicle are similar to that of the Honda CR-V, Acura claims the RDX uses a unique platform developed to handle the vehicle's advanced all-wheel drive system. Sales have been slow. 3832 units have been sold in the first two months of 2007 which is below forecast. Incentives will be offered to help sales.
The RDX is powered by Acura's first turbocharged gasoline engine. The 2.3-liter I4 K23A1 engine has all-aluminum construction, an i-VTEC head, and dual balance shafts. Acura's variable flow turbocharger reduces turbo lag by using a valve to narrow the exhaust passage at low rpm, increasing the velocity of the exhaust flow and keeping the turbine spinning rapidly. At higher rpm, the valve opens to allow more exhaust flow for increased boost. The engine also features a top-mounted intercooler which receives air from the grille, channeled by ducting under the hood. The Acura RDX engine is rated at 240 bhp (179 kW) @ 6000 rpm with a torque peak of 260 lb·ft (353 N·m). @ 4500. The EPA estimated fuel mileage is 19 city and 23 highway miles per gallon. New more realistic EPA mileage estimates as of February 2007 are 17 city and 22 highway. With a heavy foot, one tester got 11 mpg in the city.
CSX
The Acura CSX is an Acura badged version of the Japanese 8th generation Honda Civic that replaces the Acura EL as Acura's entry-level luxury car. It is essentially a luxury version of the Honda Civic, with extra length added to it. It is only available in Canada. Like the EL, it is built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. And the CSX isn't to be confused with the Shelby CSX. The CSX went on sale in November 2005 as a 2006 model. The CSX is the first Acura model with two predecessors, since the CSX's predecessors were the Integra sedan (1986-1996) and the EL (1997-2005).
The CSX also carries over features from the JDM Civic, most notably the 2.0 L DOHC i-VTEC engine rated at 155 hp (116 kW) @ 6000 rpm and 139 ft·lbf (188 N·m) @ 4500 rpm. Also carried over from the JDM Civic are the front and rear fascias and the steering wheel (also used in the USDM Civic Si and Euro Civic). Other features include paddle shifters as an option for automatic transmission models, leather interior, heated front seats, interior illumination (ignition lock, driver's power window and mirror switches, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, glove compartment, ambient), optional navigation system on the Technology package, integrated turn signals in power door mirrors, high-intensity discharge headlights on the Technology model.
The resulting car is 62 kg (140 lb) to 88 kg (190 lb) heavier than the Civic EX sedan, with fuel consumption raised to 8.7 L/100 km (27 mpg–U.S. / 32 mpg–imp) city, 6.4 L/100 km (37 mpg–U.S. / 44 mpg–imp) highway for manual model; and 9.5 L/100 km (25 mpg–U.S. / 30 mpg–imp) city, 6.5 L/100 km (36 mpg–U.S. / 43 mpg–imp) highway for automatic model.
Note: The CD player is housed under the flip down screen with the navigation system.
In 2007, Automatic transmission, digital audio card reader are only offered with Navigation package.
For 2008, leather interior with heated front seats, tire pressure monitoring system, and vehicle stability assist with traction control are now standard on the base model, the six-disc CD changer has been abolished, the Premium package was renamed the Technology package and XM Satellite Radio (with body-colored roof antenna) was added as an option on the Technology package.
TSX
The Acura TSX is an automobile manufactured by Honda, introduced in April 2003, sold in North America.
Sold in North America under the Acura name, it filled the gap as Acura's 4-door, entry-level sedan since the demise of the Integra sedan in 2001. The TSX is badge engineered from the CL-series Honda Accord sold in Europe, Japan and Australia. However, the TSX had a restyled interior and different suspension tuning when it was introduced. The interior is now standardized for all three markets. As of 2006, the TSX is the smallest sedan in the Acura model line, other than the Civic-based CSX sold only in Canada. Prices range from US$27,890 - $29,890. All TSXs were built in Saitama, Sayama, Japan. In the Australian & New Zealand markets, Honda sells the car as the Accord Euro, a smaller mid-size car, where the USDM Accord is sold in the large car category.
The 2006 model year TSX's powertrain is comprised of a 2.4-litre inline four-cylinder engine, a six-speed manual transmission (which features a magnesium casing, to reduce weight), and a front wheel drive layout. A five-speed automatic transmission is optional and does not incur extra cost in the U.S. based on MSRP. Such is not the case in Canada. The engine, the K24A2, is related to the engine in the Honda Accord (7th generation), the Honda CR-V, the Honda Element, and a smaller version in the Acura RSX and RSX Type-S. The K24A2 features intelligent variable valve timing i-VTEC and produces 205 horsepower (150 kW) in this iteration.
The TSX's suspension setup of a double wishbone front and a multi-link in the rear was especially tuned by the Honda engineers to maximize handling and cornering speed.
In 2006, the TSX was updated with slight tweaks to the engine (adding 5 hp); a sportier exterior styling featuring a slightly new front and rear treatment, standard side skirts, and standard, integral fog lights; and restyled wheels. State of the art interior features have been added, including a Multi-information Display (MID) in the instrument panel, more standard safety features, and luxury features such as an auxiliary MP3 player input and Bluetooth-compatible HandsFreeLink.
In 2007, besides a new Tire Pressure Monitoring System and an improved electronic rear view mirror, the TSX is the same.
The 2008 model year brings a few additional features and a new colour to the TSX.
In testing conducted by the United States based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Acura TSX received an overall rating of Poor rear crash protection, an overall rating of Good for frontal offset testing, and an overall rating of Acceptable for side impact testing.
TL
The Acura TL is a mid-size luxury car from Honda's Acura brand. It was introduced in 1996 to supplant the Acura Vigor and was rebadged for the Japanese-market from 1996 to 2000 as the Honda Inspire and from 1996 to 2004 as the Honda Saber. The TL is Acura's best-selling model, and it is the second best-selling luxury sedan in the United States behind the BMW 3-Series. The 2008 TL features an improved new immobilizer system, a separate Tire Pressure Monitoring System warning lamp and two new body colours. The navigation system has been updated to work in Hawaii, and the AcuraLink has been expanded to incorporate 76 markets (up from 38 markets for the 2007 model).
RL
The Acura RL is the top-of-the-line sedan in the range of Honda's North American luxury brand Acura. It is a rebadged version of the fourth-generation Honda Legend and replaced the Acura Legend in 1996.
All Acura RLs are built in Saitama, Japan. The very first Acura RL rolled off the assembly line on January 4, 1996.
A revised car, known internally as "KB1", was launched in late 2004 for the 2005 model year, and is much reminiscent of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Still without the much-rumored V8 engine, it features a sophisticated all-wheel drive system Acura calls "Super Handling All-Wheel Drive". It integrates active differentials with the all-wheel drive system and traction control to improve handling, similar to the "ATTS" system featured on the 1997 Honda Prelude SH. This all-wheel drive system was lauded by Popular Science as one of the best automotive innovations of 2004, and earned the 2005 "Tech car of the year" from cnet.com.
The 225 hp (168 kW) 90° C-series V6 engine was replaced with a new 60° J-series 3.5 L engine delivering 300 hp (224 kW; later revised to 290 hp due to new SAE testing procedures). To give the car a more sporty feel, the car features a five-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel in the current, racing-car derived fashion. Other features found on the 2005 RL include DVD-Audio, XM Nav-Traffic (real-time traffic monitoring utilizing XM Satellite radio), as well as extensive use of aluminum and carbon fiber. Pricing is up to US$49,100 without destination.
The third-generation RL appeared on Car and Driver's Ten Best list for 2005.
For 2006, the Acura RL was also sold with the optional 'Technology Package' including features such as adaptive cruise control, Collision Mitigation Braking System, and Michelin PAX run-flat tires. The previously standard color-matched mud guards were deleted in 2006.
In addition to the base trim level, the 2007 Acura RL was available with the Technology Package or the Technology and CMBS/PAX Packages.
The facelfted 2009 Acura RL luxury sedan made its world debut at the Chicago Auto Show on February 6th, 2008.

Suzuki Motor Corporation (スズキ株式会社, Suzuki Kabushikigaisha) is a Japanese multinational corporation that specializes in manufacturing compact automobiles, a full range of motorcycles, All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), outboard marine engines, wheelchairs and a variety of other small internal combustion engines. Suzuki is the 12th largest automobile manufacturer in the world, employs over 45,000 people, has 35 main production facilities in 23 countries and 133 distributors in 192 countries.
In 1909, Michio Suzuki founded the Suzuki Loom Company in the small seacoast village of Hamamatsu, Japan. Business boomed as Suzuki built weaving looms for Japan's giant silk industry. Suzuki's only desire was to build better, more user-friendly looms. In 1929, Michio Suzuki invented a new type of weaving machine, which was exported overseas. Suzuki filed as many as 120 patents and utility model rights. For the first 30 years of the company's existence, its focus was on the development and production of these exceptionally complex machines.
Despite the success of his looms, Suzuki realized his company had to diversify and he began to look at other products. Based on consumer demand, he decided that building a small car would be the most practical new venture. The project began in 1937, and within two years Suzuki had completed several compact prototype cars. These first Suzuki motor vehicles were powered by a then-innovative, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder engine. It featured a cast aluminum crankcase and gearbox and generated 13 horsepower (9.7 kW) from a displacement of less than 800cc.
With the onset of World War II, production plans for Suzuki's new vehicles were halted when the government declared civilian passenger cars a "non-essential commodity." At the conclusion of the war, Suzuki went back to producing looms. Loom production was given a boost when the U.S. government approved the shipping of cotton to Japan. Suzuki's fortunes brightened as orders began to increase from domestic textile manufacturers. But the joy was short-lived as the cotton market collapsed in 1951.
Faced with this colossal challenge, Suzuki's thoughts went back to motor vehicles. After the war, the Japanese had a great need for affordable, reliable personal transportation. A number of firms began offering "clip-on" gas-powered engines that could be attached to the typical bicycle. Suzuki's first two-wheel ingenuity came in the form of a motorized bicycle called, the "Power Free." Designed to be inexpensive and simple to build and maintain, the 1952 Power Free featured a 36 cc two-stroke engine. An unprecedented feature was the double-sprocket gear system, enabling the rider to either pedal with the engine assisting, pedal without engine assist, or simply disconnect the pedals and run on engine power alone. The system was so ingenious that the patent office of the new democratic government granted Suzuki a financial subsidy to continue research in motorcycle engineering, and so was born Suzuki Motor Corporation.
In 1953, Suzuki scored the first of countless racing victories when the tiny 60 cc "Diamond Free" won its class in the Mount Fuji Hill Climb.
By 1954, Suzuki was producing 6,000 motorcycles per month and had officially changed its name to Suzuki Motor Co., Ltd. Following the success of its first motorcycles, Suzuki created an even more successful automobile: the 1955 Suzulight. Suzuki showcased its penchant for innovation from the beginning. The Suzulight included front-wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension and rack-and-pinion steering -- features common on cars half a century later.
Alto
The Suzuki Alto Works was fitted with a 660 cc F6A engine and a turbocharger. It is available as a FWD or an AWD.
Other turbocharged models called the Alto RS-X and Alto RS-R were also sold.
The Suzuki Alto is also assembled in Pakistan by Pak Suzuki. The Mehran 800 and Alto 800 have been manufactured in Karachi since 1982, the former model being based on an older Suzuki Alto model. Seven different Suzuki vehicles are manufactured by PakSuzuki and most vehicles are available with CNG option. In 1992, a new plant was built at Port Mohammad Bin Qasim near Karachi.
In addition, the Korean-sourced Daewoo Tico was based on the 1982 Alto and was also sold by Mazda as the Carol.
APV
Suzuki APV (All Purpose Vehicle) is Suzuki's budget MPV designed in Japan and assembled in Indonesia by PT. Indomobil Suzuki International (a subsidiary of Suzuki).
At November 2007, Suzuki released the improved APV nicknamed APV Arena. It offers more luxurious features with the SGX type as the flagships. Not just doing some facelift in exterior but also the interior is changed as well an improvement in engine performance.
They are exported to countries like Australia, Pakistan, Argelia, Aruba, Malaysia and Chile.
Grand Vitara
The Suzuki Grand Vitara was a compact SUV, namely a long-wheelbase version of the Vitara, produced by the Japanese automaker Suzuki since 1999. It was facelifted in 2002 and 2004, and redesigned in 2006. A rebadged version was sold in North America by General Motors as the Chevrolet Tracker. The Tracker is sold in Latin America as Chevrolet Grand Vitara.
As of 2003, the smaller Suzuki Vitara has been withdrawn from the North American market. Sales were slow, with just 4,860 sold in 2004 for the United States. In Canada, sales were strong. All North American Vitaras were built at CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, while the North American Grand Vitaras were built in Japan, where it is the Suzuki Escudo. The 2006 model has had a structural redesign with a new ladder-boxed chassis integrated into a unibody construction. In India, it is sold as a Maruti competing with vehicles like the Tata Safari, Ford Endeavour and Honda CR-V.
The 2001 model Suzuki Grand Vitara comes standard as a 2.0 Liter 4WD vehicle in New Zealand. The 2005 and onwards Grand Vitara is sold in Ecuador by Chevrolet, yet it still retains it's Suzuki badges.
The vehicle is also mass produced in Iran by Iran Khodro Manufacturing Co.
MR Wagon
The Suzuki MR Wagon is a kei car with a mini MPV body, seating four, manufactured by Suzuki for the Japanese market only, and also marketed in Japan by Nissan as Nissan Moco under an OEM agreement. The model debuted in 2001, and since 2006 it is in its second generation (as of 2007). It was launched in India by Maruti Suzuki as Maruti Zen Estilo in 2006.
SJ-Series
The Suzuki SJ-Series began production in 1982 in Hamamatsu, Japan. In Japan, the SJ-Series was sold as the Suzuki Jimny and was a keicar. It was produced with both 550 cc and 660 cc 3-cylinder engines for domestic use. The SJ-Series was lengthened and widened for export purposes and had many names worldwide: Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Sierra, Suzuki Caribbean, Suzuki Santana, Holden Drover (Australia) and Maruti Gypsy.
Splash
The Suzuki Splash is a new city car that arrives for the 2008 model year. The car was jointly developed with Opel, which gets their version called the Agila. It debuted as a concept car at the 2006 Paris Auto Show and the production model debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. The Splash is slotted below the Swift in the lineup.
Swift
The Suzuki Swift is a supermini car manufactured by Japanese Suzuki Motor Corporation. At its introduction in 1985, it was named the SA-310, but in 1986 it was renamed the Swift. Powered by a modest 993 cc straight-3 engine giving 50 hp (37 kW), 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) was 17.9 seconds with a top speed of 141 km/h (88 mph). The engine (a G10) was very light, weighing only 63 kg (139 lb) and was not very powerful. The suspension was lifted from the Suzuki Alto.
In Japan, the car was sold as Suzuki Cultus and from 1985 to 1988 in the United States and 1991 in Canada, the car was sold by General Motors as Chevrolet Sprint and Geo Metro captive imports. The car was sold from 1985 to 2000 as the Pontiac Firefly in Canada. In 1998, when General Motors discontinued the Geo line of economy cars, the Metro was rebadged as a Chevrolet. The Geo Metro was GM's most fuel efficient car of the 1990s. It's sedan version was third model launched by Maruti Udyog of India and was sold as the Maruti 1000 and the Suzuki Forsa in Canada.
Wagon R
The Suzuki Wagon R is a mini MPV, first introduced as a kei car in Japan in 1993. The R stands for recreation. It is one of the first cars to use the "tall wagon" design in which the car is designed to be unusually tall with a short bonnet and almost vertical hatchback and sides in order to maximise cabin space while staying within the kei car dimension restrictions. The first generation Wagon R is 1640 mm (64.6 in) high, or 255 mm (10 in) taller (170 mm (6.7 in) internally) than the JDM Suzuki Alto sold at the same time (which was the exact same length and width).
The Wagon R Wide, introduced in 1997, is a slightly larger car, exceeding the kei car specifications, with larger 1.0 and 1.3 litre engines - this is what was sold as the "Wagon R" in the European market (also introduced in the same year). The only other tall wagon style car sold in Europe around the time of its introduction was the Daihatsu Move.
1998 saw the introduction of the second-generation Wagon R in Japan, with the Wagon R+ replacing the Wagon R Wide in 1999 - this was brought to Europe in 2000, now sharing the "Wagon R+" name with the Japanese version. This is also produced in Esztergom in Hungary and Gurgaon, India. The Opel Agila is a badge engineered version of the Suzuki Wagon R+, also introduced in summer 2000.
A third generation Wagon R was launched in Japan in September 2003 for their 10th Anniversary, but only as a K-car - no oversized version (like the previous Wide and +) was developed in either Japan or Europe. The third generation was facelifted in September 2005.
The Hungarian-built Wagon R+ is still being produced for the European market, albeit with limited range and availability (it is no longer for sale in Ireland, for example). As of 2006 in the UK, only one model is available - the GL, with a 1.2 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering 59 kW (80.2 PS), ABS with EBD and air conditioning. The current model is 3540 mm (139.4 in) x 1620 mm (63.8 in) x 1695 mm (66.7 in) (length x width x height), with a claimed 597 litres of cargo space.
In India, the WagonR is sold as "Maruti Suzuki WagonR", having Suzuki's 1.1 L F10D petrol engine producing 64 bhp (48 kW). Also, a new LPG version called DUO has been introduced lately, which runs both on Petrol and LPG.
In Indonesia, the car is called Suzuki Karimun and offered with a 1000 cc petrol engine, whilst in China it forms the base for both the Changhe-Suzuki Beidouxing and Changhe-Suzuki F-MPV.
SX4
The Suzuki SX4 is a compact car developed by Japanese and Italian automakers Suzuki and Fiat and produced since 2006 to replace the Aerio as its compact car. Although originally intended only for the European market, the car is sold in Japan, India, South America, Australia and North America as well. It was introduced at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show and is being built at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary, as well as in Japan. An expected 60,000 units will be produced — 2/3 to be sold by Suzuki and 1/3 by Fiat, rebadged as the Sedici. Design was handled by Giorgetto Giugiaro's Italdesign studio.
XL-7
The Suzuki XL-7 is Suzuki's mid-size SUV, launched in 2001.
Introduced in the fourth quarter of 2006, Suzuki partnered with General Motors to build the 2007 model, now called XL7 (without the hyphen). It uses the same unibody platform and many of the same components as the Chevy Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn VUE, but incorporates third row seating exclusive to the Suzuki. The second generation model uses a version of the GM High Feature engine, built in Japan and shipped to CAMI Automotive in Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada, where the XL7 is assembled with the Equinox and Torrent. Styling cues on the 2007 include a chrome slotted grille and trapezoidal headlights.

Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. (ダイハツ工業株式会社, Daihatsu Kōgyō Kabushiki-gaisha) is a Japanese manufacturer of cars, well known for its smaller models. Many of its models are also known as kei jidosha (or kei car) in Japan.
The name "Daihatsu" is a combination of the first kanji (Chinese character, also shared in Japanese language) for Osaka (大) and the first of the word "engine manufacture" (発); when put together they are pronounced "dai hatsu". (In Japanese, it is pronounced as Da-i-ha-tsu, NOT Dai-hat-su, but in practice, even in Japanese, the name is often slurred and doesn't sound too different than the latter pronunciation.)
It was reported on 31 March 2005, that Toyota would exit Daihatsu from the Australian market, after sales fell heavily in 2005, in spite of the overall new-car market in Australia growing 7%. Daihatsu wound up its Australian operations in March 2006 after almost 40 years in the market.
Daihatsu's operations in Chile – where Daihatsu is a well-known brand for its 1970s models such as the Charade or Cuore – were also threatened after very low sales in 2004 and 2005. However, Toyota has stated that it intends to persist in the Chile market for now.
Daihatsu has supplied cars under different badges to various different automakers in the past, and also supplies engines and transmissions to one of Malaysia's largest car makers, Perodua, which sells cars in the United Kingdom.

Between 1969 and 1974, and again between 1989 and 2002, Nissan produced a high performance version of its Skyline range, called the Nissan Skyline GT-R. This car proved to be iconic for Nissan and achieved much fame and success on road and track. The Nissan GT-R, although no longer carrying the "Skyline" badge, has heritage in the Nissan Skyline GT-R. Like the Skyline GT-Rs R32 through R34, the Nissan GT-R is All-Wheel-Drive with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine; however, the evolutionary, incremental changes between Skyline models R32 through R34 have been done away with. The four-wheel-steering HICAS system has been done away with, plus the traditional straight-6 RB26DETT engine has been replaced with a new V6 VR38DETT. Because of the GT-R's heritage the chassis code for the all-new version has been called CBA-R35, or 'R35' for short, carrying on the naming trend from the R34 Skyline GT-R.
Concepts
At the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan unveiled a redesigned concept, the GT-R Proto, stating that the production GT-R would be 80-90% based on this concept.
It has already been driven by Autoweek in Germany in the new Nürburgring, in the autobahn and in small roads. Also, photos of the production vehicle were published a week early since Motor Trend broke the embargo.
Performance
A test of the Japanese production spec GT-R by online auto-magazine Edmunds provided a 3.3-second 0-60-mph run, and 11.6 at 120.9 mph (194.6 km/h) quarter mile with launch control. Edmunds speculated that faster times may be achievable on better road conditions than provided by the runway which they used for the test. Dynamometer tests on early production versions have shown that the GT-R makes its advertised power at the wheels, which means actual engine output (before driveline losses) could be as high as 550-575 bhp SAE net. Nismo, the motorsport arm of Nissan will be entering the Nissan GT-R in the Super GT race series in the GT500 class for the 2008 season, replacing the Nissan 350Z. A prototype has recently been spotted testing around the Suzuka Circuit. The Nissan GT-R will make it's world motorsport début in Australia's Targa Tasmania tarmac rally.
Aftermarket Tuning
The new GT-R has been reported by both the automotive press as well as sources within Nissan as being harder to modify than the previous Skyline GT-Rs, due to the supposedly 'untuneable' ECU, the drivetrain accesories and the design of the turbochargers (integrated into exhaust manifolds). Nissan has also gone through lengths to safeguard the car against modification with sensors alerting the dealer of any performance modifications and nullifying the warranty. However, it has been reported that Nissan has given access to the car to select tuners, already Japanese tuning houses Mine's, MCR and Top Secret have been seen testing modified GT-Rs with the former two having conducted tests at the Tsukuba Circuit.
Motorsport
Design
Nissan chief creative officer, Shiro Nakamura, has likened the new GT-R to the eponymous giant robots of the Gundam series. Nakamura states: "The GT-R is unique because it is not simply a copy of a European-designed supercar, it had to really reflect Japanese culture." Specifically, Nakamura noted that the GT-R's square lines and vents were influenced by Gundam. Designers from Japan, America, and Europe contributed to the final GT-R shape.
Gran Turismo creators Polyphony Digital were themselves involved in the development of the GT-R, having been contracted to design the GT-R's multifunction display.
